Crane or forklift – how is the machine loaded?

Whether a forklift is enough or a crane has to come depends on weight, design, centre of gravity and the site. The decision affects cost and date – which is why it belongs at the start of planning.

What matters

Forklift
Suitable if forks can get under the machine, weight and load centre fit the forklift's capacity and the route to the vehicle is level.
Overhead crane
Lifts the machine inside the hall – up to the door. After that, a second step to the vehicle is often needed.
Mobile crane
Lifts from outside directly onto the vehicle but needs a set-up area and load-bearing ground.
Loader crane on the vehicle
For lighter machines a vehicle with a loader crane can be enough – depending on weight and outreach.

Planning questions

We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.

  1. How heavy is the machine, and where is its centre of gravity?
  2. Can forks get under it?
  3. Is there an overhead crane, and is its capacity sufficient?
  4. Can a mobile crane stand close enough to machine and vehicle?
  5. How long and level is the route to the vehicle?

What we need from you

  • Weight, dimensions and design
  • Available equipment with capacity
  • Photos of installation spot and loading point
  • Possible crane positions

Preparation: You hand the machine over ready for transport – dismantling, later installation and commissioning are done by your team or the manufacturer's service.

What we do for you

What we organise

  • Transport planned around dimensions, weight and route – with the right vehicle and secure load
  • Loading, unloading and crane work organised alongside on request
  • One contact who coordinates dates with you and the people on site

Good to know

The quote states explicitly which loading equipment we provide – so you know exactly what will be on site on collection day.

How it works

  1. 01

    Request

You send route, date and machine details using the form below – anything unknown can stay open.

  2. 02

    Review

We compare the options based on your details and recommend suitable equipment – available on site or organised by us.

  3. 03

    Quote

You receive a quote with the agreed scope – on request including loading and crane organisation.

  4. 04

    Execution

Loading with the agreed equipment, followed by load securing and transport.

Questions and answers: Crane or forklift – which fits?

Is an overhead crane enough to load onto the vehicle?

Only if the vehicle can drive under the crane. Otherwise the overhead crane lifts to the door, and a second step is needed for the vehicle.

When does a vehicle with loader crane make sense?

For lighter machines, when weight and outreach suit the capacity of the loader crane.

Do I have to arrange the crane myself?

No, on request we organise suitable equipment. What is provided is stated explicitly in the quote.

Request

Request for this topic: Crane or forklift – which fits?

Three steps. Anything you do not know yet can be left open.

Date

About the machine

As precise as known – manufacturer and model help but are not required.

Machine dimensions (L × W × H)

Comma or point as decimal separator, e.g. 2.35 m.

Weight
Is the machine ready for transport?

Ready for transport means: dismantled, secured and prepared for loading. We do not carry out dismantling, installation or commissioning.
