Transporting hydraulic presses
Hydraulic presses range from workshop units to large plants. This page covers presses of usual dimensions. Typical are a tall structure with the cylinder on top, a lowered and secured ram and a hydraulic power unit that often travels separately.
What matters
- Ram in transport position
- The ram is lowered and mechanically secured so that it does not move during transport.
- Hydraulic power unit
- Tank, pump and valves often sit on or next to the press. Transported separately, the unit needs its own securing.
- Centre of gravity
- Cylinder and crown are on top – the press is secured against tipping.
- Boundary to heavy haulage
- Very large presses reach dimensions and weights that require permits. We then plan them as a heavy-haulage project.
Planning questions
We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.
- What press force, height and weight does the press have?
- Is the ram lowered and secured?
- Does the hydraulic power unit travel separately?
- Is the oil in the system, and are all lines sealed tight?
- Are there lifting points on the crown?
What we need from you
- Manufacturer, type, press force and weight
- Dimensions in transport position
- Details of the hydraulic power unit
- Loading situation at both sites
Preparation: You hand the machine over ready for transport – dismantling, later installation and commissioning are done by your team or the manufacturer's service.
What we do for you
What we organise
- Transport planned around dimensions, weight and route – with the right vehicle and secure load
- Loading, unloading and crane work organised alongside on request
- One contact who coordinates dates with you and the people on site
Good to know
For very large or heavy presses, Logisticoo Heavy & Project checks the transport with permit and escort – from a single source.
How it works
- 01
Request
You send route, date and machine details using the form below – anything unknown can stay open.
- 02
Review
We check height, weight and centre of gravity, the securing of ram and hydraulics, and whether dimensions stay within the usual range.
- 03
Quote
You receive a quote with the agreed scope – on request including loading and crane organisation.
- 04
Execution
Loading with suitable lifting equipment, securing against tipping, transport and handover at destination.
Questions and answers: Hydraulic presses
When does a hydraulic press become a heavy-haulage transport?
When dimensions or weight clearly exceed usual limits and permits or escorts become necessary. We then assess the transport at Logisticoo Heavy & Project.
How is the ram secured for transport?
It is lowered and mechanically secured so that it does not move en route. This is part of the preparation by your service team.
Does the hydraulic power unit travel with the press?
Sometimes on the press, often separately. Transported separately, it needs its own securing and sealed line connections.
