Stating a machine's dimensions and weight correctly
Dimensions and weight decide the vehicle, the loading equipment and sometimes a permit. Inaccurate figures lead to wrong quotes or problems on collection day. A few rules make the values reliable.
What matters
- Transport position counts
- The machine is measured as it will be loaded – without removed parts, with retracted axes, but with everything that stays on.
- Maximum extent
- Length, width and height are the outermost points, including handles, control cabinet and overhangs.
- Weight with source
- Rating plate, manufacturer's data sheet or weighing are reliable. Please mark catalogue values and estimates as such.
- Units
- In the form you choose m, cm or mm and t or kg. Both comma and point work as decimal separators.
Planning questions
We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.
- Where does the weight figure come from – rating plate, manufacturer, catalogue or estimate?
- Were the dimensions measured in transport position?
- Which parts are removed and travel separately?
- Are there overhangs such as control panels or cable carriers?
- Does the weight include operating fluids?
What we need from you
- L × W × H in transport position with unit
- Weight with source
- Dimensions and weights of separate parts
- Photo of the rating plate
Preparation: You hand the machine over ready for transport – dismantling, later installation and commissioning are done by your team or the manufacturer's service.
What we do for you
What we organise
- Transport planned around dimensions, weight and route – with the right vehicle and secure load
- Loading, unloading and crane work organised alongside on request
- One contact who coordinates dates with you and the people on site
Good to know
If you do not know a value, choose “not known yet” in the form. We ask specifically – that is better than an inaccurate estimate.
How it works
- 01
Request
You send route, date and machine details using the form below – anything unknown can stay open.
- 02
Review
We compare your figures with the rating plate or data sheet and ask if values do not match.
- 03
Quote
You receive a quote with the agreed scope – on request including loading and crane organisation.
- 04
Execution
On collection day, loading follows the agreed values; significant deviations are clarified before loading.
Questions and answers: Stating dimensions and weight
What do I do if I do not know the weight?
Choose “not known yet” in the form. An open value is better than an unmarked estimate; we clarify it before quoting.
Which dimensions count – operating or transport?
The dimensions in transport position, i.e. as the machine will be loaded – with all overhangs that stay on.
Can I use a comma or a point as decimal separator?
Yes, both work. Choose the appropriate unit, for example m or mm and t or kg.
Request
