Packaging and corrosion protection for machines
Many machines travel unpacked but protected: bare surfaces preserved, sensitive parts covered. For long routes, sea legs or interim storage, packing in film or a crate can make sense. What fits depends on machine and route.
What matters
- Bare surfaces
- Guideways, spindles and tables are treated with corrosion inhibitor – before transport, by your staff or the manufacturer.
- Moisture
- Temperature changes cause condensation. Desiccant and tight film help on long routes.
- Crate or film
- Crates protect mechanically, film against moisture and dirt. Sea transport often has higher requirements.
- Wood in exports
- Many countries have treatment rules for wooden packaging in exports. This applies to crates and pallets.
Planning questions
We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.
- Does the machine travel unpacked, in film or in a crate?
- Are bare surfaces preserved?
- How long is the route, and is there a sea leg or interim storage?
- Is wooden packaging used for the export?
- Who packs – your staff, the manufacturer or a packing company?
What we need from you
- Preferred type of packaging
- Route and duration
- Details of sensitive parts
- Dimensions and weight including packaging
Preparation: You hand the machine over ready for transport – dismantling, later installation and commissioning are done by your team or the manufacturer's service.
What we do for you
What we organise
- Transport planned around dimensions, weight and route – with the right vehicle and secure load
- Loading, unloading and crane work organised alongside on request
- One contact who coordinates dates with you and the people on site
Good to know
If the machine is packed for export, tell us the dimensions and weights of the finished crate – we plan vehicle and loading with them.
How it works
- 01
Request
You send route, date and machine details using the form below – anything unknown can stay open.
- 02
Review
Based on route and machine we check whether the intended protection is sufficient and plan with the dimensions including packaging.
- 03
Quote
You receive a quote with the agreed scope – on request including loading and crane organisation.
- 04
Execution
Transport of the prepared or packed machine with covering and protected securing.
Questions and answers: Packaging and corrosion protection
Does every machine have to be packed?
No. Many travel unpacked but protected. On long routes, sea legs or interim storage, film or a crate can make sense.
Who preserves the bare surfaces?
Your staff or the manufacturer before collection. We protect the machine with covers during transport.
What applies to wooden crates in exports?
Many countries require wooden packaging to be treated. This applies to crates and pallets and should be clarified before packing.
