Transporting guillotine shears
Guillotine shears are long, heavy and, with the upper blade, have a moving, sharp component. For transport, the blade is secured, support arms and accessories are removed – then the shear is a compact but heavy item.
What matters
- Securing the blade beam
- The blade beam is moved to transport position and mechanically secured. Blades are protected so that neither they nor people are harmed.
- Removable parts
- Support arms, hold-downs and back gauge often travel separately and need their own packaging.
- Weight over a short span
- The weight is concentrated on the side frames. Load distribution on the vehicle is designed for this.
- Hydraulic or mechanical
- Hydraulic shears have a tank and lines, mechanical ones a flywheel – both affect the preparation.
Planning questions
We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.
- What cutting length, sheet thickness and weight does the shear have?
- Is the blade beam secured and are the blades protected?
- Which parts will be removed and travel separately?
- Is the shear hydraulic or mechanical?
- Where can it be lifted?
What we need from you
- Manufacturer, type and weight
- Dimensions without removable parts
- List of accessory parts
- Lifting points and loading situation
Preparation: You hand the machine over ready for transport – dismantling, later installation and commissioning are done by your team or the manufacturer's service.
What we do for you
What we organise
- Transport planned around dimensions, weight and route – with the right vehicle and secure load
- Loading, unloading and crane work organised alongside on request
- One contact who coordinates dates with you and the people on site
Good to know
Once the blade beam is secured and attachments removed, the shear can be loaded quickly and safely.
How it works
- 01
Request
You send route, date and machine details using the form below – anything unknown can stay open.
- 02
Review
We check weight and load distribution, the securing of the blade beam and how the accessory parts travel packed.
- 03
Quote
You receive a quote with the agreed scope – on request including loading and crane organisation.
- 04
Execution
Loading at the lifting points, securing shear and accessories, transport and handover at destination.
Questions and answers: Guillotine shears
How is the blade beam of a guillotine shear secured?
It is moved to transport position and mechanically fixed, and the blades are protected. Your service team does this before collection.
Do support arms and back gauge travel with the shear?
Usually as separate, individually packed parts. They belong in the parts list so that they are not forgotten.
Does it matter whether the shear is hydraulic or mechanical?
Yes. Hydraulic shears have a tank and lines, mechanical ones a heavy flywheel. Both affect preparation and securing.
