Machines
Transporting wire and sinker EDM machines
EDM machines consist of the machine, a generator and a dielectric system – water or oil. For transport, the fluid has to come out, and the individual units are planned separately.
What matters
- Dielectric
- Deionised water or EDM oil is drained before collection. Oil tanks and filters are secured against leaks.
- Several units
- Generator, dielectric unit and, where applicable, a chiller often travel separately from the machine.
- Work tank
- The work tank is lowered or secured. Loose parts inside are removed.
- Precise axes
- As with grinding machines: fix the axes, avoid shocks, protect against moisture.
Planning questions
We clarify these points before quoting – the earlier they are known, the more precise the plan.
- Is it a wire or a sinker EDM machine?
- Has the dielectric been drained, and which tanks are included?
- Which units travel separately – generator, filter unit, chiller?
- Are the axes and the work tank secured?
- Where are the lifting points of the individual units?
What we need from you
- Design and manufacturer
- Dimensions and weights of all units
- Confirmation that fluids have been drained
- Loading situation on site
Preparation: You hand the machine over ready for transport – dismantling, later installation and commissioning are done by your team or the manufacturer's service.
What we do for you
What we organise
- Transport planned around dimensions, weight and route – with the right vehicle and secure load
- Loading, unloading and crane work organised alongside on request
- One contact who coordinates dates with you and the people on site
Good to know
Once the dielectric is drained and the units separated, we transport generator and machine as separate, securely lashed packages.
How it works
- 01
Request
You send route, date and machine details using the form below – anything unknown can stay open.
- 02
Review
We check the individual units and their lifting points and make sure all tanks are empty or leak-proof.
- 03
Quote
You receive a quote with the agreed scope – on request including loading and crane organisation.
- 04
Execution
Loading the units, securing them against sliding and shocks, transport and handover at destination.
Questions and answers: EDM machines
Does the dielectric have to come out before transport?
Yes. Deionised water or EDM oil is drained before collection, tanks are secured against leaks. A filled tank is not loaded.
How many parts does an EDM system have in transport?
Usually several: machine, generator, dielectric unit and possibly a chiller. We need dimensions, weight and lifting points for each part.
What happens to the dielectric before transport?
The operator or their service drains it and disposes of it properly. We then transport the emptied units.
